My Favorite Niece & Our “Featherizing experience”

Have I ever mentioned Gaby is my favorite niece? OK, she’s my only niece, but she’s still my favorite! We both make it a point to make the three-hour-trip a few times a year to visit each other. This time around my sis-in-law Debbie made the drive over and we spent a few fun-filled days together. There was a lot of eating, playing, cake (courtesy of Debbie) and more eating... the usual activities of our gatherings. Oh yeah, we went to watch the movie ‘the adventures of Tin Tin’, which was great! Oh, how can I forget our little venture to the hair salon for a feathering experience. Ever since I discovered these unique and exciting feather hair extensions, I’ve become somewhat obsessed with them (I say obsessed because I might have too many on my hair and every time I visit my hair dresser I am tempted to add more). I knew from the beginning I needed to share this with my niece. She chose a pink feather and even my sis-in-law couldn’t resist.

This time around we were fortunate enough to have a bit of time to squeeze in a photoshoot with Gaby. I was able to capture some of her spunky personality she hides behind her shy porcelain doll face. She surprised me how into it she was... she would strike poses like a pro-model. We had a blast, and as you’ll see, even the pets got in the fun!

Three days flew by too quick! We never seem to have enough time when we gather together. I wish we would've had time for: (we’ll do it the next time you guys are here)

This is my Charlie.... "he needed no instructions to pose". You had to be there to see it. Really, he literally sat there, next to Gaby, and facing the camera as if someone instructed him to. It was adorable! (He did it twice too!)

This is Luke!!! - My four-legged nephew. He's still a pup, behaves like a pup, and he's a giant!

Gaby absolutely loves having him around. It was a must to capture them interacting together.... and it had to be done fast, before he could knock the equipment over.... I forgot to mention, he's a clumsy giant! LOL

Their Day Finally Came! (Kenia & Osiel's Wedding)

The past few weeks have been hectic around here! Besides shooting and editing, I’ve been consumed with house remodeling projects (I finally got around to re-doing the laundry room), I also had family visiting, some more editing... and life!Sometimes things end up in the back burner... like blogging. I didn’t forget, I just haven’t been able to sit and think for a minute. I haven’t even watched TV.... and I love me some TV at night. Anyhow, I’ve been anxious to show you these images from the latest wedding I shot. You might remember Kenia & Osiel... their day finally came! Let me just say how rapidly it came! After the ceremony we headed to the Garden of Hope and Courage in Naples for some alone time with the couple and my lens. Here are my favorite picks from that day. Enjoy!

Growing Old Together (10th Wedding Anniversary)

When you think of the future, you tend to envision things that you would like to see happen. Weather it’s a goal or a dream... You hope for the best and work towards your objective. Sometimes you forget where you left off, but you move on and build new dreams. I had no idea what it would feel to get here, but I knew this is where I wanted to be.

Today marks my 10th wedding anniversary... I feel happy and joyous... and proud! Marriage takes a lot of work and patience. Like a plant, it needs water, sun, and nourishment.... OK, bad analogy... I can never keep a real plant alive!!!. But, you know what I mean. In the end, the love that you build with someone else blooms into a beautiful flower.... OK, I should really stop with the analogies right now!!! I’m just super happy we’ve come this far. It went by so quick, but you know what they say... time flies when you’re having fun!

Just the other day I noticed Renzo’s (my husband) newly sprouted gray hair, I can’t help it but to feel gratified because I know we are growing old ‘together’. (Sorry Hun, I just told everyone about your gray hairs!)

Happy anniversary babe, I look forward to the next 10, and much more. I love you sooo much!

Photo above: Our last-minute trip to Disney turned into a celebration of our anniversary, which was perfect because we spent our honeymoon there! We received these “happy anniversary” pins when we picked up our tickets. For the next three days all we heard was "happy anniversary", literally hundreds of times... from the greeters at the park entrance, to the lady taking our lunch order, to the guy at the entrance of a ride... even people who were guests at the park... It was awesome!

Swept Away by Prince Charming & A Decade of Love (Osiel & Kenia)

Every girl wants to be swept away by prince charming. The idea of romance, love, and passion...it’s pure bliss for a girl. This is Osiel & Kenia and their story starts with “once upon a time” and ends with “and they lived happily ever after”. When they're together the whole world doesn’t exist, it’s like they’re in a fairytale. Kenia tells me Osiel is all romance and love... from the smooth talk, to the roses, and surprises. I can see why she’s head over heals over him. They are soon to be married, and I couldn’t be happier to be documenting their story.

Their love reminds me so much to my own “happily ever after”. As my 10th wedding anniversary approaches, I can’t help to think about my engagement and how I felt about my prince charming a decade ago. After all these years I never thought I would still feel so in love like I did back then.

A Love That's Inevitably Visible (Michael & Arlene)

Capturing the love between two people is one of my favorite things to photograph. Every couple is different, wouldn’t you agree?. I am not only referring to the physical appearance, but also in terms of personality, style, and story that define and make each couple unique. Although couples differ from one to another, in the end the love that joins them together is always displayed in similar ways; like a kiss, laughter, a deep stare into each others eyes, holding hands... that type of interaction is what I love to capture through the lens. This is Michael and Arlene, and they share a love that's inevitably visible.

A Connection Like No Other (Chris & Rachel's Intimate Beach Wedding)

I’ve never met a couple that was so easy going and laid-back! Meet Chris & Rachel. They initially met through mutual friends. Rachel instantly admits she spotted Chris first, and Chris doesn’t deny it. These two lovebirds have a connection like no other. They know exactly how to make each other laugh...they are true friends and soul mates.

We gathered on a bright sunny afternoon along with some friends and family for a casual intimate picnic wedding. Friends brought their own picnic blankets and waited for the couple to wed. Shortly after the ceremony we took some time to have a little fun in front of the camera.

This handsome boy is Jacob. He’s bright and outspoken....a typical 8 year old boy. Did you look at those eyes? He's Rachel's son. He now lovingly calls Chris 'big daddy'. These two share something special as well. During the ceremony Jacob was presented with a gift. A cross with a heartwarming note inside.

OMG. Rachel you look stunning!

Mosquito Bites and a Family Beach Photoshoot

The past few weeks have been quite busy around here. Hopefully, I’ll be able to catch up and share with you guys some of the fun I’ve been having... Well, it’s been mostly fun except for the bad reaction I had to some mosquito bites (or no-seams) at the beach. Did I ever mentioned how allergic I am to mosquito bites? One mosquito bite on me swells up and it usually takes about two weeks to go away. This time they got me good! I’m talking over 20 bites on my arms. The itch??? OMG, horrible! I had to take Benadryl. I know some people that love the chance for some Benadryl. But, I can’t stand that sense of feeling drugged out and drowsy.

Anyways, back to photography and the reason for this post. A few days ago I had the pleasure to work with this sweet family. Meet Adena, her daughter and two grandkids. Adena’s daughter was visiting from Tennessee, and this was the perfect time to gather for a family photoshoot.

This is Nicholas and Kevin... they were so good and patient with me. Especially because I kept saying “just one more, I promise!”

Towards the end of the shoot, Kevin turned to his mom and said “I didn’t know there was gonna to be sooo many pictures”! He said it with such honesty... it just cracked me up!!! I guess he had no idea what was coming when they told him he was getting some pictures taken. Maybe he realized the $10 he was getting for this just wasn’t enough! LOL

Undeniably Cute (Cassandra)

The thing about photographing babies and children is that everything is totally spontaneous! And I like spontaneity; it’s real and natural. It also keeps me on my toes during a session. This session with Cassandra was no exemption.

Cassandra is one of the happiest babies I’ve ever met. You can just look at her and she immediately smiles. OK, I know what your thinking... taking photos of her was probably simple.. I mean she’s a smiley baby, right? To my surprise, she was not pleased when I put her in the spot-light. Literally, I think my lighting was a little frighting to her. And the Damask backdrop (the black&white one) made her peculiarly curious, it was the cutest thing ever. So, how was I able to capture so many adorable photos? One, the subject was undeniably cute. Two, lots of patience, creativity, rattles, toys and even a made up song, I’d like to call the “Cassandra song”. She loved it and even danced to the rhythm.

Let me just say that I’ve never had such a hard time deciding on which photos to share. There were so many awesome ones, I just wanted to upload them all! But that would be one L O N G post. Here are just a few photos of this gorgeous baby. She has the most adorable smile... she is so cute!

School Supplies, A New Phase, and The First Day of School

Many of you had the chance to start school with your young kids this past week. Some of you were second and third timers coming back to the school year. But some, like me, were doing this for the first time. I was really excited to be “back to school” shopping! I have a thing for school supplies... pencils, coloring materials, erasers, sharpeners, folders, notebooks, and everything in between. However, I was so disappointed when I saw the pre-k supply list. Seriously? A ream of copy paper, wipes, and ziplock bags?!! What kind of a school supply list is that? Ok, there was also a box of crayons and coloring pencils on the list, but that wasn’t what I had in mind. I know, I know, it’s only pre-k.

Here are a few photos I captured the morning before school started, right outside my house. Let me just say that this experience stirred up some mixed emotions. In many ways I feel happy for my son, Zach. He is entering a new phase in his life, full of learning new things, friends, and activities. Yet, I am suddenly saddened. This is a reminder he is growing up, and no longer a baby. I am also excited because I now have a few hours of (actually) ‘getting things done’ around here without interruptions. Yes! No interruptions, quiet time... just me and my playlist!
But, those hours never go by without me wondering what, and how my son is doing. I feel helpless because I can no longer protect him when he’s on his own. My house feels a bit too quiet and lonely... I don’t like it! I know it’ll take some time to get used to it.

On a side note: I can't believe I am already getting "the hand" followed by "STOP! that's enough!". I wasn't expecting that for another few years.

The photo below is for aunt Debbie, who got the coolest backpack for Zach. To my surprise, my son actually LOVES school. He barely said “bye” to me the first day. He even wanted to go to school on Saturday and Sunday!

These are one of my favorite series. It really embodies exactly how Zach and Charlie usually interact with each other.

Realistic Dreamer

I was talking to a friend recently, and she mentioned something.
She said she is not a dreamer, but rather realistic. At that time I didn’t think much of it, but it got me wondering... Am I a dreamer or realistic?
I like to think I'm a dreamer (it just sounds so much cooler).
But, maybe I'm both... a realistic dreamer.

Lost & Found!

Have you ever lost something, but you knew you would find it again? I guess that would depend on what it is and where you lost it.
I lost my keys over a year ago... and for some reason I had this “hope” I would find them again. I was so certain that I never got new keys made. Yup! I’ve been key-less for more then a year!
How or why I thought I would find my keys again….I really don’t know. It was just a “feeling”. Mostly, I think it’s the positive, optimistic, and “glass half full” kinda person in me.

You are probably curious about how I found them. First, let me just say that I always thought they would be inside of one of my purses (since I’m always switching purses around). But, I had looked inside all of them several times. I looked everywhere around my house too...and nothing!

It turns out I had put them inside the pocket of a soft cooler/lunch box that I happen to only use three times a year. To make things worse, I had purchased a new hard case cooler, which I had been using instead. For some odd reason, I thought I should use the soft cooler this past weekend and there they were!!! Inside the front pocket!!

My excitement was like one of those kids on Disney commercials, where they show home videos that parents record of their kids’ reaction as they find out they are going to Disney World. Yeah, I was screaming like a kid!

Inner Girly-ness (Emma)

It’s been pretty quiet here for the last few weeks. I regret not keeping connected with all of you that read my blog. I should also confess that I’ve fallen behind on my 365 project and I don’t see any hopes in catching up. Not sure exactly what happened... I think maybe the project started to feel monotonous, occasionally overwhelming, and time consuming as well. I started to forget the real reason why I took on this project in the first place.
At this point, I am contemplating a different approach and other ideas... because, of course, I am always inventing.

For now I leave you with my most recent photoshoot.
I had the pleasure to photograph the cutest, most adorable ballerina. Meet Emma! She is full of energy, curious, and free-willed... as one can expect from a two year old.

As initially planned, this photo session was meant for Emma with the purpose to capture her inner girly-ness. I can positively say "mission accomplished!"

Her big brother, Logan, was not part of this photo session, because that's being reserved for a future photoshoot. However, I could not resist having him sit for a quick capture, as he hung around and played in his all time favorite costume: Spider-Man! He showed me some super hero tricks, and covered me in spider webs. LOL

Quick & Fun Shoot (Keila)

When I found out Keila was heading to FL for a visit/vacation, I knew we needed to get together for a photo shoot. For those who are not aware, we haven't seen Keila for a few months (since she moved to TN). She loves the camera and I knew she would be excited to get in front of it. Her agenda was quite busy, but in the end we were able to squeeze a quick and fun shoot together. I am hoping this won't be the last time... maybe next time it will be in the beautiful state of TN.

Chic, Fun, Charismatic (Junkyard Shoot with Melanie)- Part 1

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to photo shoot this gorgeous young lady. Meet Melanie. If I had three words to describe her, they would be: Chic, Fun, Charismatic. We had a blast working together, and I am pretty sure I've captured her great personality.

For a while, I've been contemplating about doing a photo shoot at a junkyard. When I found out I was going to be shooting with Melanie, I knew she would be perfect for it! Check out some of my favorite captures at this cool location (I was left wanting more!). I could spend a whole day there, if allowed). Later on we moved to a different location, which I will be sharing in part two of this shoot. So keep tuned ;)

Most of you have never met Charlie, but those that have, know how remarkable he is. I am talking about my great four-legged companion friend. He's my last good-bye when I leave my house, the source of joy every time I come home, keeps-me-company while I work (by my feet), and my protector when I am vulnerable (it's more like jealousy).

He understands our language, and if he could speak words, he would. I've never seen a dog that communicates everything that he wants, as Charlie does. He makes specific growls or barks for everything he wants. For instance, he'll let you know if he wants to go outside, if he wants food, or if he wants a treat! Ask "What is it Charlie?" and he'll show you. What's more exceptional is that as much as he knows how to communicate his needs, he also understands everything we communicate to him. He is almost human if it wasn't for his animal limitations.

He has always liked to sleep under the covers, and we would let him for many years. But after we had our son, we decided Charlie needed his own bed (and blanket of course). If that blanket gets a bit out of place, he will let you know! ... and he won't stop until you fix it for him. It's hilarious!

He also knows when we are talking about him, and will bring toys out for attention. In fact, if I was reading this out loud as I write it, he would know it was about him, I am not kidding!

My 365 Project- Day Fifty to Fifty Six

I reflect about things quite often... my God, my family, my life, and my business. Last week I was thinking about "time", and how to make the most of it... which got me thinking about my (bad) habits, and how some of those habits are keeping me from doing the best I can. But, sometimes routines and tendencies are hard to break or change.
For example, I want to make the most of my time. Well, I know I have to make some changes in my schedule. If I got up really early I would have a few more hours to my day, and I would be able to get more things done. The problem is that I am not a morning person! Plus, I would have to be in bed a bit earlier then what I am accustom to. That's a habit I am still working on changing.

Some of my inspiration for my photography comes from daily life and the things that surround me. Perhaps the photos below have nothing to do with habits or tendencies, but I was thinking more in the lines of PATTERNS and repetition.

I've always wanted to photograph architecture and interiors. With a background in interior design, I looked forward for a shoot like this. Thanks to Anne Cooper Interiors, the opportunity was given to me. Although I had never professionally photographed architecture before, I have to say, this was an interesting and challenging experience.

Last week, I received a surprise visit from my aunt and uncle, who I haven't seen for 10 years! When I was growing up, my uncle was like a big brother to me. Since we are so close in age, we have so much in common. It was such a pleasure to reconnect after all these years. We stayed up late talking about our childhood and going back through memory lane as we viewed old albums.

To my surprise, my aunt has a lot in common with me. She hand makes jewelry, which happens to be one my hobbies! So, I dusted off all my tools and supplies, and began to make some interesting stuff. I never get much time to make jewelry. For me this was like a breath of fresh air... to display a different form of creativity. We came up with so manny ideas and new inspirations. I had so much fun! We literally woke up and went to bed making jewelry (of course, with life in between).

I had asked Mileisy not be mad at me for posting her pictures last ;) But I think you'll agree it was worth the wait! It wasn't a personal thing... it's just the way the images are loaded into my computer from the camera (basically, the order they were taken).

I met up with Lesita and her family at the Vizcaya early in the morning. She had also traveled from Naples that morning. Even though we had all woken up so early, it didn't matter. I could see her excitement, as she couldn't wait for this shoot. I think she's been envisioning this for some time. Hehehe!

Drinking water is an essential part of our lives and bodies. Many of us buy bottled water day to day. Did you know that having a home filtration system can save up to 3,200 plastic bottles a year?
I drink tons of water! So I decided to purchase and try out a PUR filtration pitcher. At first I was skeptical about it, but after a little research and a taste of it's filtrated water, I've changed my mind. The water tastes "pure", it really does... and I am pretty sensitive and picky to taste. My husband even likes it! That's huge, because he usually doesn't like to drink water.

As this is my last photo of the week (for my "Green" theme), I'de like to conclude with a few words: We are all responsible for our planet. It doesn't take much effort, we just need to be conscious. If we all pitch in together, we can make an inpact.

My excitement to shoot at the Vizcaya was unbearable. Once it became official that I was shooting at this amazing location, and as the date approached, the anxiety was eating me up. I’ve been looking forward to this day for sometime. I knew eventually it would happen; I just didn’t know I would be fortunate enough to do it this soon.

I had the great opportunity to photograph Alejandro & Azarelly. They’ve been married for 10 years... who would of guess it by just looking at these two! And look at Azarelly in her wedding dress! She still looks AMAZING even after 10 years.

Truth be told, I have an obsession with stationary. I love to make invitations!

It all started when a friend of mine had the idea of hand-making the invitations for my baby shower. I had no idea what this would involve, and my friend had no clue she would be creating a monster. I actually remember her saying to me, “I’ve created a monster!” LOL!

I am so incredibly meticulous and obsessive when it comes to details... it can be annoying for anyone watching me. Ever since then, I look for any opportunity to make any party invitations. It's so bad, I've been banned (by my husband) from participating in any invitation making... for any other parties, unless it's for one of my own.

Engagement session! That’s what comes to mind when you see images like these. I had the pleasure to work with this lovely couple, Mahamani and Catherine. These two love birds are not about to start their lives together, and they’re not planning their wedding day. Instead, they celebrate their 14th anniversary!

I was thrilled when Catherine approached me about doing a session like this for their anniversary. Their love is as vibrant and rich as any soon-to-be married couple.

As we strolled the beach in South Naples and waited for the sunset, I wanted to captivate the moments that distinguished their relationship. I was able to capture their candidness, silliness, as well as the more intimate and passionate moments. These are my favorite picks from our session.

Squeaky Secret Revealed! (Jacob, Jonas, Violet)

Hi everyone... I know, it's been a while! I've been meaning to share these with you for some time. I just haven't been able to get around to do it.

These three siblings are so adorable, curious, and your typical tiny human beings. Something funny to share.... when doing sessions with little ones, I am always trying to find clever ways to get their attention. However, Jacob, the oldest one... was too smart for my tricks. hehehe

I have a squeaky (you know, that little plastic bubble inside a squeaky toy) I carry in my pocket or my hand. I sabotaged it out of one of my dog’s toys.

I make the sound when I need the kids to look at me. It works like a charm... I always get that "what’s that?" look. I usually poke the kids on their belly as I sound out the squeaky... and they look at their tummies with amazement. They just can't believe they have a squeaky inside their tummies. Hahaha. It's pretty funny!

As I mentioned before, Jacob (the oldest) was too smart for my tricks. So, he asked where that sound was coming from. He actually tried to look in my pockets. There was no fulling him!!! He was obsessed with finding out what was making that noise. Eventually, I had to reveal my secret :/

I told Jacob not to tell his little brother and sister, and he was more then happy to do that!

The View and The Weather

I am fortunate to live so close to a place like this. It’s amazingly beautiful! Unfortunately, most of the time we get caught up in the daily routine and we forget to enjoy the simple things in life.

I was at a shoot a couple of days ago. This is what the view, and the weather was like. I love it when the sky has some clouds like this. It adds texture to the plain blue sky. I hope to share the photos from this shoot very soon, so stay tuned.

Kids are so funny! I should know, I have a three year old. I guess I can relate to kids because of my own. I met with Aubrey and Annie this past Friday for a casual playful shoot. I know by experience that for shoots with kids this age, it requires a lot of energy, some agility, and a bit of patience. So, there I was ready to face two tiny monster that gave me a run for my money... literally! I was running away from them because they started this “monster” game. They were the silly monsters and I was... I don’t know, vulnerable? They were throwing sand at me, and I was running away trying to take cover. Well, actually I was shooting the whole time, capturing their silliness. I had a blast with these two precious girls.

When I got home I had sand in places I only get when I wear a bathing suit. LOL! The next day I started editing, and boy was I laughing all over again! I love it when I view the photos from a shoot for the first time, and I get to relive the moment again. I find my self smiling, giggling, and sometimes laughing out loud. Here is a preview of the shoot. I hope these make you smile, giggle, and laugh just as much as I did when I first viewed them!

Hello there! I am super busy today. I am having out-of-town family coming to visit this weekend. When that happens, I get somewhat obsessive about my house. So, I am rushing through to get things done. You won’t hear from me for a few days.

Totally Adorable (meet baby Nathan)

Although this isn’t exactly newborn, it’s close enough. Newborn sessions are ideal within two weeks after birth because the babies sleep more, and they are incredibly moldable. I was really excited about capturing baby Nathan around this time. However, things got a little complicated and we weren’t able to accomplish the session until later on. This actually worked out very well, because otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to capture those gorgeous eyes. You’ll see what I mean. Meet baby Nathan, he is six weeks old and totally adorable!

Trash the dress shootout

Most of you are familiar with trash the dress photography. Although it may seem like a new trend, John Michael Cooper was one of the first photographers who started this type of photography back in 2001. His innovative and unique style quickly inspired many photographers around the world, becoming one of the most popular trends today.

I personally love the idea of something so traditional, formal, and elegant as a bride wearing her wedding gown, and photographing her in an unexpected environment such as a muddy swamp, a rustic scene, an old house, city streets, even paint. The options are endless with a little imagination.

As fun and exciting the idea might sound, many brides may feel intimidated by the idea of vandalizing their own wedding dress. However, there are so many ways to accomplish a trash the dress session without having to really “trash” the dress. The intensity or level of “trashing” your own dress is up to you. The dress doesn’t necessarily have to be destroyed in the process. Heeewww!!! Does that make you feel better?

A couple of weeks ago , I joined 38 enthusiastic photographers at a shootout organized by Peggy Farren of Photography Naples. We met at a wooded swampy location in Naples. Pretty much alligator territory! You will notice how some of the brides are muddy, wet, and dirty. Yet, some are neat and untouched. This illustrates my point, you decide to what degree you want to “trash” your dress. It really is up to you!

There were 18 brides in total, 6 of which I had the opportunity to work with, plus a young lady in her prom dress (you'll see her at the end) . Here are some of my favorite captures I want to share with you.

In need of a new challenge

In the past, most of my shooting has been done outdoors... and I love it! Nature offers a variety of props, colors, and backdrops. However, for the past few months I’ve been able to regularly attend several studio photography workshops, hosted locally by Photography Naples. These studio sessions have allowed me the opportunity to gain skill and knowledge of lighting, and how to control it. I’ve become comfortable with the concept and I now feel it’s time for me to further challenge myself. Yes, I’ve thought of my next photography challenge. I’ll tell you more about this as soon as I have organized my thoughts and ideas.

As previously promised, here are some of the photos from my latest studio session with this enthusiastic 15 year old. Let me introduce you to Michele. She is a cheerleader in high school and has a special interest in modeling and theater. I’ve gathered a few of my favorites for you to view.

Was it our chemistry, the weather, or the fact that we were experimenting with new ideas? (Trashing The Dress with Keila)

Experimenting with new ideas has to be one of my favorite things to do. I would have to say the opposite about trying new types of foods. Don’t get me wrong, I love food, but when it comes to dinner I like to stick to the safest option, which is normally having the usual. However, when it comes to photography, nothing sounds more exciting then experimenting with new ideas, techniques, and equipment.

A couple of weeks ago, Alvaro, Karina, and I decided to get together for a trash the dress session. Keila was our model. She is my sister-in-law’s sister. So I guess she’s like my distant sister-in-law... ok we consider her family. She is awesome, loves the camera, and is a great model. Keila has a very unique personality. Most of the time she makes me wonder how she comes up with the stuff she says out loud, because it’s mostly hilarious!

I always say how much fun I have when doing a shoot. It’s true, I always have fun. But, this time, it was awesome! I don’t know if it was the chemistry between the four of us, the weather (yes, we were all happy about the clouds), or the fact that we were experimenting with different ideas, equipment, and lighting, or maybe it was the combination of all this. Whatever it was, we had a great time!

Where Does Time Go? (Senior Session with Ruben)

I am so excited to finally post these photos from a senior session I did back in late July. I am sorry for the late post. I was holding off because some of these photos were used in a slideshow for Ruben’s graduation party and I didn’t want to spoil it.

Plus, I had a pile of photos to be edited, the house work that never ends, and the vacation I soooo needed. Better late than never, right? But I am back now and recharged for more!

Meet Ruben... or Ruby as I call him. We met about 10 years ago. I can say I have seen little Ruby grow into a man. OK, that sounds so weird to me because when I see him, I still see that little kid I met 10 years ago. I had such a great time with Ruben and his funny, goofy, energetic friends.

So why is it that when you’re young, all you want to do is grow up? Yet, when you’re older, you wish you were a kid again. I know, it’s such a cliche.

This photo shoot brought so many memories from my teenage years (which by the way, was not that long ago, hehehe)... like being punished, homework, and best friends. I mean, I really don’t remember the last time I was punished. The closest thing to homework is house chores (I rather have homework), and best friends?... Well, I married mine.

Where does time go? Once again I am reminded why I love photography so much. The fact that you can go back in time by just turning the pages of an album (or a click, if it’s a digital album) is a wonderful thing. It doesn’t matter where time goes, just make sure to capture every moment.

Trash the dress session

Hello my friends! Let me tell you, I am running sooo behind on my blogging here. Lots to do, so little time! It's been crazy busy around here lately. You see, I'll be on vacation in the next few days. Yay! Finally, I've been waiting for this day!

Remember that Senior Session I teased you with? I'll be posting the rest of that soon, I promise! Yesterday, I did a studio session with a young energetic 15 year old, and a couple of days ago I did a trash the dress session, plus I have a few other things in the works too! I'll share all these soon.

But before I go, I wanted to share at least one photo from the trash the dress session. This shoot was so fun! I can't wait to show you the rest. But for now, I'll just tease you with this one capture (which happens to be one of my favorite so far.) Now, I have to go finish packing. Talk to you when I get back :)

Jungle Safari Photo Shoot

OK, so I have to admit, I was a little skeptical after hearing that the next studio workshop was going to be wild.....literally!.....with a boa constrictor and everything! Yea, I am not too fond of snakes or other critters. However, I was not going to cancel and miss it...just in case :)

In the end, the boa constrictor didn't make it to the shoot, but Catherine Guidry was astonishing and gorgeous! She looked like Jane from Tarzan in her custom made outfit. Hair and make-up was done professionally by David Frohmberg. Very cool!

The shoot was a success, and once again I had a great time with my fellow photographers. I love these workshops! Here are a few shots. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

Birth Session- Baby Nathan

Remember Ananis and Nairelys? Yup, they had their new baby boy! As some of you may know, I’ve been looking forward to this session for quite some time now. As the due date approached, the anticipation was killing me! All I could think about was, the baby could come today, the baby could come tonight, the baby could come any minute, the baby, the baby, the baby! Wednesday, I woke up to a phone call from Ananis and Nairelys... “the baby is coming now”!!! I literally jumped out of bed and got ready in 5 minutes. That was a record in my book! I felt so many different emotions in the next few hours. I went from great anticipation, to charged energy, to anxiety, to excitement, to nervousness, and then total bliss. It was like a crazy roller coaster ride. The whole experience was exhilarating!

Ananis was ready and prepared for the big moment... with a little wine to calm his nerves. Hehehe! You have to love his facial expression when he cuts the cord! It's priceless! I can’t help but wonder my husband’s face when he cut our son’s cord.

I wasn’t the only one experiencing mixed emotions. The room filled with great sentiments as the grandmas rejoiced to see their grandson being born. With laugher, excitement, tears, hugs and kisses, they all welcomed this bundle of life into this world. Meet

Every other week, Peggy Farren of Photography Naples hosts studio workshops where many photographers in the area meet to refine their skills. Peggy is kind enough to share her passion with others. She is not selfish nor greedy about her teachings, because she’s not threatened by it, like others may be. I admire her confidence and talent.

Gathering with those who share the same interests and enjoy the same art, provides the opportunity to not only make great connections, but also to polish our talents. I value the opinions, creative ideas, and experience that my fellow photographers consistently provide. The ambiance is fantastic!

I truly believe there is always room for improvement in every aspect of life. For me, these workshops grant me the opportunity to grow and become better at what I like to do.

Meet Cat Guidry owner of Blue Star Stables located in Naples. Among other things, she really enjoys modeling. Ananis & Nairelys' New Addition

There is something special about expectant mothers. This was no exception. Not all pregnancies are the same. They come in different shapes, sizes, and colors....literally!

It's a beautiful stage in life. I had so much fun with these trio...soon to be cuatro.

Meet Ananis, Nairelys, and Jayden. This shoot brought me so many good memories. Only four years ago I was pregnant too. I can't believe how much I've forgotten about my pregnancy. Nairelys reminded me of all the small details everyone tends to forget.

Jayden is about the same age as my son too. It's incredible how alike they are. They both love SpongeBob... they both call me crazy. Jayden said to me "you crazy" and my son says to me all the time "you crazy mama". LOL! I guess boys will be boys. Jayden was such a good boy throughout the photo shoot. I was really impressed how well he behaved.

On a regular basis, photographers around the area meet together in workshops to hone their skills. I was able to attend this one along with nine other photographers. I had so much fun!

Meet Casie, she loves modeling and you can see her passion displayed in her work. She is so full of character and open-minded to different ideas when it came to posing.
